We are offering 20 Scholarships to those families that currently qualify for free lunch or partial lunch payments in their school district. Parents and players, please take into consideration in your ability to commit to attending practices and games. If your child will be unable to participate in the majority of practices and / or games then this league may not be right for them. We recognize and support students participating in multiple sports / activities. We ask that during the basketball season that players commit to basketball in fairness to their teammates, i.e. do not skip basketball practice to attend practice for a out of season sports or in general.
Pre-League Training / Skills Assessment
During this time period, open-runs will be held. Open-runs are a relaxed training session ending with Free play. Coaches use these open-runs as an opportunity to assess new comers and also continue to train children that are familiar to the program. Player assessments will be kept private.
What kind of skills will they be learning at the openruns?
- Drills and thought patterns to ensure a calm composure under high intensity play
- Drills that point out the essentials of organized basketball (picks, zone defense, etc)
- Drills and thought exercises on how to learn, measure and build skill in anything you do

Since players sign up as individuals, not as teams, evenly matched rosters must be compiled. Many factors can determine what team your child ends up on. For example, parent schedule conflicts being the biggest one. There are usually two timeslots on two days that are set aside for practice. For example, lets say those two days are mondays and weds. If "Tom" has drum practice on monday, then we simply assign him to the weds team. When registering, you will be required to enter in any schedule conflicts you may have. By the end of this week, rosters and schedule should run through its first draft, allowing parents to then dispute or agree with them the following week.
Familiarizing yourself with Teamsnap
Also during this week, parents will be invited to create accounts and join our team management software, Teamsnap. Teamsnap allows for parents to chat amongst each other (set up car pooling, etc), show whether or not they plan on going to a game and most important of all, being able to see their child's schedule. Teamsnap is the #1 Team management app for youth leagues.
By the middle this week, a "Loose schedule" and "Loose rosters" will be shared. "Loose" meaning at any point during this week, the roster or schedule may change due to unresolved or additional schedule conflicts. As we reach the end of the week the frequency at which the schedule and roster changes lessens, finally being locked on the monday following (Jan 6th).
Schedule is locked, practice and games begin Jan 6th and season ends Feb 16th with playoffs and finals
